The Company
Central to the company’s mission is mentoring early-career artists of color. We believe that representation matters, and that it is essential to see oneself reflected in the artist/facilitators from whom one learns. Across all programs Red Ladder runs, 89% of our participants are Black, Indigenous and People of Color. For this reason, our company is comprised of a troupe of multi-racial, multi-lingual professional actors, 90% of whom are BIPOC, all of whom are committed to serving the community in positive ways through the art form of theatre. These individuals, who possess a wealth of talent and training, are uniquely suited to serve the broadly diverse spectrum of participants within our community, nurturing life-skills critical to the healthy development of youth, and fostering life-long learning by allowing adult participants to re-ignite their creativity. These artists become role-models for the participants in the program and, in turn, are provided with the support and experience necessary to help them grow as leaders in the field.
